Capstone Project: Study Abroad - Internet communication continued.
As a senior in the Communications/Journalism department at Shippensburg University, we all were asked to create a project that would prove beneficial, solve a problem and was meaningful to us.
I am a person who loves to take advantage of opportunities when presented with them, I was disappointed with what I saw as not enough students taking the opportunity to study abroad, and not enough student-to-student relationships built through the mutual experience of living and taking classes in a foreign country.
I decided to create a website that encouraged students who had studied abroad to share their experiences. Not only allowing them to get the opportunity to have a forum to openly discuss their trip, but also as a way to provide students who had not studied abroad a chance to get a student's view of what studying outside of the United States is like and why they should highly consider taking advantage of the opportunity to learn in a foreign country.
One of the way that I decided to create this forum for students to discuss their experiences, and for others to view this is by creating a blog within the website. I hope to continue to expand the blog because since it has been running, it has got positive reviews. One of the ways I promoted this website and blog was by connecting to students who have studied abroad by Facebook groups and by posting links on my Twitter account.
The website and blog I created can be found by clicking on the image to the left.
